In this work, María Cortés places the leopard within the silent architecture of a Santa Fe courtyard. The space is constructed through geometric forms, intense planes of colour and defined contrasts of light and shadow. The architecture ceases to represent a real location and becomes an imagined territory.

The leopard emerges from a dark doorway and moves towards the viewer. Its appearance evokes the inner strength that remains concealed until it finds a way out, as well as the impulse to cross a threshold and embrace new possibilities.

The ordered geometry of the courtyard contrasts with the animal’s free and instinctive presence. The doorway marks the boundary between what has been lived and what is still possible, while the leopard embodies courage, freedom and the determination to move forward.
